Writing To the Fair Land

A Continent of Great Extent: Writing To the Fair Land, a short (10 minute) presentation about the history behind To The Fair Land, is now available on Substack.
To The Fair Land is an eighteenth century thriller about a young man who risks everything in his search for a missing author, a map, and a discovery that could change the face of the known world. It is set at a time when many explorers and geographers believed in the existence of a massive continent in the southern hemisphere – the Great Southern Continent – on no firmer evidence than that a Greek philosopher had made it up. In this presentation, I explore some of the history behind the fiction, as well as some of the myths.
You can view the presentation and read the transcript of A Continent of Great Extent: Writing To the Fair Land at This Writing Life With Lucienne Boyce on Substack.
